Momentum Metropolitan Holdings has partnered with Government and the National Department of Health (NDOH) to provide financial support and offer resources to support the various initiatives aimed at preventing and containing the impact of COVID-19 on all South Africans.

Says Hillie Meyer, Group Chief Executive Officer of Momentum Metropolitan; "In a worldwide health crisis such as this, both public and private sector need to work together to ensure that we can achieve a health ecosystem that allows South Africans access to more health for less. This crisis requires us to collectively work together towards a common outcome."

Momentum Metropolitan has committed R5 million to supplement resources to the public sector. In doing so, the Group offered to coordinate and manage a fund on behalf of the NDOH. The office of the Presidency and Ministry of Health are excited about the opportunity to work with the private sector and thanks Momentum Metropolitan for taking the initiative in setting up a partnership platform to support the protection of our nation’s health.

Momentum Metropolitan strongly encourages and calls upon other South African companies to heed the call of the President and join the partnership by either pledging financial support and/or offering their own resources to the NDOH.

As a community-conscious company, Momentum Metropolitan understands the importance of providing all South Africans with access to the right information about the virus. As a result, they have offered to co-ordinate additional call centre capabilities to support those already set up in the public sector as call volumes are likely to increase should the virus spread in South Africa.

Momentum also offered their mobile nursing teams from some of their operating entities to support the Department’s Incident Management Team and play a role in providing remote screening of symptomatic individuals. The NICD will coordinate their readiness as per protocol. Lastly, Momentum offers its technical expertise to build and manage databases to assist with the recording and reporting of the virus in South Africa.

Meyer concludes: “Now is the time to all work together to get through this difficult time. We all have an important role to play.”
